Our History
Written by Kim May, Sr. Pastor

In September of 1985, I prayed, “God, I’ll do anything you want me to do.”  He took me up on my offer and impressed three simple words on my heart –  “Start a church.”  Over the next 8 months my wife and I, joined by 4 friends and their children, planned our move to Liberty.  This venture was affirmed by scripture, prayer, friends, and family.

The first gathering of this church plant occurred in our home on June 1, 1986.  We began as a Bible Study on Sunday nights.  Within a few months, we switched to a Sunday morning worship service as our numbers increased.  In 1989, LCF bought three acres (with the original church building on it) at the corner of Liberty Drive and Conistor.  We were a healthy, growing church of about 150 people.

As God blessed us with continual growth, we added on to our building – first the sanctuary, lobby and restrooms.  Later we built the multi-purpose area, nursery, mother/baby room, kitchen, etc.  In June of 2004, we purchased the house and land south of our parking lot on Liberty Drive.

Our facilities simply accommodate the wonderful ministries the Lord cultivated among us.  In addition to our three Sunday worship services, we can look back on the development of ministry to children, youth, college, singles, adults, etc.  LCF currently involves about 800-900 people.

I am so grateful for a faithful God, a wife who continues to serve sacrificially, children who fully enjoy LCF, and a fellowship filled with spiritual brothers and sisters eager to learn and mature in their faith.  I feel like I’m the most fortunate pastor alive!
