Baby/Child Dedication

Baby and Child Dedications are an important part of our life at Liberty Christian Fellowship. It is not only a time for you as parents to dedicate your baby or child to the Lord, but also for us as a Christian community to dedicate ourselves to being a part of the spiritual nurturing of your child. During this special and very important ceremony, Libby Skillman, our Children’s Pastor, will read a scripture passage of encouragement to you as parents. She will also present a rose on behalf of our church body and family to symbolize our commitment to you and your child. If you are involved in a small group, your group leader will pray for you. Then one of the pastors will pray for you and your child. We do most baby dedications at our Family Gatherings (first Wednesday evening of every month), but we can consider other times, as well. As examples to us and in keeping with the law mandated by God, Joseph and Mary dedicated their child Jesus to the Lord.

Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. Luke 2:22

Hannah the mother of the prophet Samuel says in I Samuel 1:19:

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.
