Events
We believe one way to help youth grow in their faith with Jesus is to fellowship and hang-out with other believers. These are some of the events and activities the youth might do outside of Sundays. Our retreats and activities will change depending on the season and the reason!
Barnswinging – One day in October, we will start out early in the morning to go to Ozark, MO., where we spend the day paint balling and barnswinging. At the end of the day, we roast hot dogs and s’mores around a bonfire before we head home. This is for 6th-12th grades.
In the past, we’ve had a God Girl Bible Study – for middle school girls(6th and 7th grade) to dig deeper into God’s word. This extra time for the middle school girls (outside of youth group), is where they can have more time to get to know each other, and discuss what’s going on in their lives, receive prayer, and learn what it means to be a God Girl. Although there is no group meeting right now, you can call Joelle at the office, or email her at joelle@lcfliberty.org if you have any questions!
Chicago Winter Retreat – Most years, right after Christmas, we bus to Chicago for a time of fellowship and to live life together in the Windy City. This is for 8th-12th grades.
Senior Trip – In past years the seniors have headed to California with youth leaders to spend some time talking about life skills, seeing the sights, and road tripping! This has been a great time for our seniors to process the major changes that will be occurring in their lives within a few short months.
Variety Show! – In the past, to help offset costs for their California trip, the seniors have put on a variety show displaying their talent in front of the church on a Sunday night. It is always so much fun and the laughs are guaranteed!
Camp Barnabas - Every year a group of teens and adults go to Camp Barnabas in the Ozarks to minister to the needs of a special group of people. Depending on the week, they may be Down Syndrome, Cancer survivors, or burn victims or their families. This has been a great growth time where our youth learn to look outside themselves and love beyond the external trappings the way God loves us. Those who go to this summer camp for children with special needs experience an awesome, life-changing week of camp. It is an amazing experience for everyone who participates – always. There are only a limited number of spots a year to go to Barnabas. 14 and 15 year olds who truly have servants hearts can be “Barnstormers” and 16 year old and up can be CIA’s (Christians In Action) who have a camper assigned to them for the week.
Every Young Man’s Battle – Each year, the 9th grade guys do a study based on the book and study guide by Stephen Arterburn & Fred Stoeker. In past years they have taken a road trip to Florida to celebrate and spend more time in fellowship.
Every Young Woman’s Battle – The 10th and 11th grade girls have done this study in the past. This is one of many different Bible and book studies they might do. If you would like to talk about girl’s Bible or book studies, contact Joelle at joelle@lcfliberty.org.
Acquire the Fire – Occurring in late Winter, this event covers a Friday evening and all day Saturday, including concerts, speakers, break-out sessions. This is a great time for fellowship and learning in a high-energy environment! Click on www.acquirethefire.com/kansascity for more details!
Middle School Bible Studies – At varying times, there are Middle School Bible study groups for both boys and girls, for each grade. Contact Assistant Youth Pastor Joelle May at the office, 781-3831, or by email, joelle@lcfliberty.org for more detailed information.
