Sunday Classes

Christian Studies

Our mission at LCF is to build devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and one of the ways we do that is through Biblical teaching.  We know that discipleship is a lifelong process of learning and growing.  In addition to the biblical teaching that we offer through Sunday morning messages, we will offer classes throughout the year that will help you mature as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

The classes we offer fall into three broad categories:

Systematic Theology

He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Titus 1:9

Systematic theology involves collecting and understanding all the relevant passages in the Bible on various topics and then summarizing their teachings clearly so that we know what to believe about each topic.

The Bible warns against being tossed here and there by every wind of doctrine. Therefore, these classes will focus on Biblical teaching on various foundations of the faith so that we are better equipped to discern truth from error.

Biblical Studies

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

The classes offered in this area will be more traditional Bible studies; verse by verse studies of particular books of the Bible or Bible passages.  The Bible is God’s very word, spoken to us.  It is inspired by God, without error in its original format and is our only infallible guide for living.  As we hide it in our hearts, we are less inclined to sin and more inclined to live as instruments of righteousness: worshiping, serving the church and transforming the world around us.

Practical Application

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

James 2:26

Human effort does not make us acceptable to God, only Christ’s finished work on the cross can do that. But our actions are evidence of a growing relationship with Jesus. As we grow closer to Him, our lives will reflect noticeable change.

These classes will address the practical aspects of the Christian life and help us in our desire to be more like Jesus.

Classes take place at the Liberty Public School District Administration Building, located just north of the church on Conistor.  Times will be from 10:00-11:00am.  There is adequate parking at the DAC.  Childcare will be provided through Kid’s Point Ministry at the church building.
