History

In September of 1985, Kim May prayed, “God, I’ll do anything you want me to do.” He took Kim up on his offer and impressed these words on his heart, “Start a church.” Over the next 8 months Kim and his wife, joined by 4 friends and their children, planned a move to Liberty, Missouri. This venture was affirmed by scripture, prayer, friends, family, and their small group.

The first gathering of this LCF church plant occurred in the May’s home on June 1, 1986, as a Sunday night Bible Study. Within a few months it switched to a Sunday morning worship service as attendance increased. In 1989 LCF bought three acres (with a small church building on it) at the corner of Liberty Drive and Conistor. We were a healthy, growing church of about 150 people. Kim & Bev Subsequently, we’ve added a variety of facilities to accommodate the growth and ministries of the fellowship.

God has blessed us with many opportunities to share His love and extend His kingdom in the Kansas City area, throughout the nation on ministry and missions trips, and in other countries like Haiti where we’ve built an orphanage and care for 90 children. Looking back on our history affords us a clear picture of God’s grace, for apart from Him we can do nothing but with Him all things are possible.
